Antique Georgian 9ct Gold Foil-Backed Gemstone Ring

- Shipping & Delivery
A beautiful and atmospheric antique Georgian ring, crafted in 9ct gold and set with a large foil-backed natural gemstone, believed to be topaz from the early 19th century.
The stone has that unmistakable depth and glow associated with early foil-backed jewelry, a technique widely used during the Georgian period to enhance the color and luminosity of gemstones in candlelight.
The substantial cushion-shaped setting, closed back construction and textured gold surround give this ring an incredible sense of age and character. It is the kind of piece that feels completely individual — imperfect, mysterious and full of history.
The central gemstone has not been formally gemologically tested, so although it is believed to be topaz, it is being sold simply as a natural gemstone.
Please note: foil-backed antique jewelry should be kept away from water, lotions, perfume and moisture, as these can affect the original foil beneath the stone.
Signs of age and wear are consistent with the history of the piece and form part of its antique character.
